Dress It Up

It’s no secret. If there is an easy way for me to dress up food to make it look and taste better I am “all in”. I do not have a lot of free time. I do enjoy great food. That means I have to use any tools I can to make it happen with less stress and time.

Dessert is fun and a treat and as the Queen of Almost homemade, lets talk about sauce.  I love raspberry saus and I can dress up a number of items, even those purchased at the store with this simple sauce.  This can be drizzled over many kinds of cakes, cheesecakes, molten chocolate cakes, pound cakes and even ice cream or ice cream cakes.

Here is how I make this sauce to top it all off and dress it up. I puree 3 1/2 cups of fresh raspberries and strain off the seeds.  Mix 4 ounces of water, 1/4 cup sugar and 1 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juices in a saucepan and bring it to a boil.

Whisk a tablespoon of cold water and cornstarch until it is smooth and add to the mix to thicken the sauce. Store it in the fridge in an air tight container.

  1. I use something similar, though usually thicker, for everything from toppings to pies, using raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, cherries, strawberries, etc. This can easily be made into pudding, too. I’m hoping that my blackberries and raspberries produce well this year.
