How strange would it feel to be on an island where dolls hung from trees? Just south of Mexico City there is the Isla de las Munecas located between the canals of Xochimilco. It is a small island that is known for having been the hideout of Don Julian Santana. He had a drinking problem and was ostracized from the mainland to this island.
A legend tells the story of a little girl who drowned in the nearby canal. Santana felt like her spirit was haunting him so he decided to trade his vegetables for old dolls. He figured that placing the dolls all over the island would appease her spirit. When this was checked out by a well-known psychic medium he said that an evil spirit had caused the girl to drown.
Today you can come to this island and see hundreds of old, decomposing baby dolls hanging from trees. There are those who believe these dolls possess the soul of the little girl. So many tourists have been fascinated by this island that now tours are offered on the weekends.

Another interesting place you found!
This one sounds a little too strange for me. Maybe some voodoo dolls there. 🙂
No, wouldn’t want to be there. Kind of creepy for me.
I would be afraid of some of those dolls perhaps being possessed like in those creepy Chuckie movies
I never saw the movie because that scared me too.
It would be interesting to visit this island, dear Sandra
lado you are brave, I would be scared to visit.
