Our first dog was a big medium that it is heavy to carry. She grew up without taking a car ride except when I got her when she was a puppy. When she got sick, we had a hard time in loading her up to the car to bring to the vet’s clinic. That was a lesson to us. Our next dogs are trained to ride the car. Nothing wrong with that since we also enjoy bringing along our dogs for a car ride.
Now that malls are not strict with pets, we bring our dogs to the mall often. We also bring them to vacation trips as far as 8 hours drive. Our 3 dogs are used to riding in the car like we consider them as kids and not as dogs anymore. At the mention of the car, the dogs would be looking intently at me. And when they see I was holding the car key, that would start the pandemonium.

I don’t have a dog, but seems like they are almost children to many people.
When I had my dog, he was very good in the car. He used to lay on the back seat and sleep.
