I am from India where a big number of people still face the problem of not having a home especially the ones migrated to metro cities in search of jobs and sleeping under bridges, railway stations and whatever places have a roof.
I have seen people sleeping in open air and run for the shelter when it rains. However, this problem is not limited to under developed countries but I have seen homeless people sleeping, sitting and singing on the streets of Canada, Australia.
I hear from my friends that problem of homelessness is worldwide. There is a big number of people sleeping on footpaths in all developed countries.
Have you seen any one sleeping on the road? I often see them in various countries. Here is one sleeping on the Sydney Center Station in the 2nd photo. The other two are from net.

Never used to have homeless in New Zealand, but I have seen a 13 yr old boy sleeping in a bus shelter in Onehunga, then a person sleeping in a car by Onehunga Wharf. Also a girl sleeping in her car in Rotorua not long ago. Plus people sleeping by an old toilet block in Onehunga.
Sad to say it is not the old New Zealand used to be. The rich are getting richer and the poor poorer. Greed is world wide.
almost nine billion people on the planet means there are homeless everywhere
We were in Osaka in 2017 and it was a very progressive city. But there was this homeless guy sleeping by the river bank.
You got to see them in Indian metros! Beyond your wildest of imagination!!!
I only could believe that if the U.S, was among the poorest countries in the world.
As an advocate against the criminalization of homelessness this is a gut wrenching issue for me at the present time.
I can only imagine that. I have seen thousands in Canada and Australia apart from different countries in Asia.
Here is one brief look – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KF7hWzqdPDk
Have a look, we have a big number of illegal refugees from Bangladesh, Myanmar etc

Sadly this is a world wide problem.
The problem of homeless people is a global problem. I saw a few weeks ago a young man sleeping on the street.
It is a huge problem everywhere. For many sad reasons.
You are right, some of them leave their homes for the heck of it and live in weird places. I have seen them living in old useless rolling stocks and smoking white sugar etc.
There are so many bad reasons people are homeless. It makes me sad.
I wish I could accommodate all homeless
I know this is a common problem its only that the volumes are higher in poorer countries.
