When you are home and alone all day long, do you keep the television set on or play music all day while doing other things? Or do you prefer peace and quiet?
I like to have some noise in the house so I leave my television set on a station where I can follow along but don’t have to watch the show. This could be a game show, something on PBS or another show about nature, history, etc.

I have the whole day turned on the radio. I can’t be quiet because I like to talk very much ?
I like to have some kind of interaction going for background noise, even if I am working!
I am a quiet person and I don’t need background noise.
That’s cool, Nela. We all have our quirks and some of us work or do better with noise and some need the silence.
i work at home 2, 3 days a week. I have talk radio on or music on when I am working. I start each day with quiet.
I like a bit of noise when I’m working and always have. Before I retired I had radio on in my office all day and now at home, it is the television set.
I have a TV in the corner of my office. A few years ago I used to have CNN on in the background I can’t do the news anymore.
I switched to music or talk radio.
Right the news is just depressing these days and more negative than positive. My hubby shakes his head when he gets in my car with radio on ESPN. Ha! Hey, it’s better than rap music, and politicians. They also don’t have as many commercials.
i like to listen to ESPN in the am. Helps me focus on the day! Plus I am a sports fan!

I love my peace and quite. I play music sometimes only when I am cleaning,m washing up or gardening.
That is a good mixture to do. I used to play music while cleaning in my younger years. It made the cleaning go faster! Maybe I should give that another shot!
For the past 3 years I have heard nothing but the t.v. so when I get a moment of nothing I enjoy it.

Interesting question. I have to say both, I mean I like the silence but also the noise, so it depends on the mood, I turn on the TV, or the stereo set, or just gardening, or just contemplating in silence.
I agree, it does depend on the mood. Sometimes though when I’m working on laptop and in the den, the TV is on and I enjoy the background noise. Other times if I am working on something serious, I prefer silence. I can think clearly then.
But I prefer heavy metal in high volume when studying and experiencing a toothache.
I’m not into heavy metal, but I do love some classic rock. That was my go-to music for some fast cleaning up years ago.

I always put some music on the background
I always had music on in my office before retiring. Now I am finding I have tv set on more. I guess it all depends on my mood also.
It all about having a background found when alone.

I would go insane with no noise at all. It’s quiet here to begin with. I have woods all around me. I have to have something on, even if low.
