Discover Romania through my photos – The narrowest canyon in Romania and Europe – Cheile Oltetului

It is said that Romania is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and this can be confirmed by all those foreign tourists who annually cross the threshold of this country to know their wonders. I don’t know if this is true, because I didn’t visit too many foreign countries to make the comparison. That is why, starting today I invite you to discover some of the beauties of Romania, as I have seen and surprised them in the photos and to draw your own conclusion.

Let’s begin!

Cheile Oltetului is located in Polovragi commune, Gorj count. They were carved by the waters of the Olteț River over millions of years. The scenery is wonderful and at the same time, scary. The mountains are so close, as if they were cut in two, that you feel like they can crush you. In certain areas  there are places where the slopes of the 2 mountains, Parâng and Căpățânii, are very close, reaching even 2-3 meters from each other. This space is considered to be the narrowest of the two mountains, from Romania and Europe.
