A new study has found that brain waves produced while sleeping help fights the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.
When we sleep soundly, electrical signals form in the brain, called slow waves. Consequently, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is released and promotes what resembles a ‘wash’ in the brain. The researchers argue that this process removes toxins associated with the development of Alzheimer’s syndrome, which is characterized mainly by marked memory loss in old age.
