Deadly Love Bean

This plant is known as the crab’s eye or deadly love bean. Supposedly it originated in Southeast Asia. Their seeds have, albrin, a very poisonous chemical. If ingested they attack the body’s functions at the cell level. If the rosary pea is eaten there is no danger but if the seed happens to be scratched or damage the result is deadly. The poisonous seeds are combined with pearls to make jewels in Holland. Sounds like deadly jewelry to me.

I remember in Latvia seeing these kinds of red berries on some plants. At least they looked like berries but no one would try to eat them and no one was sure exactly what they were. Luckily there were no incidents.
