This morning I along with my brother-in-law arrived in Jogjakarta to do some organizational affairs and a few other matters until the next two days. Some cousins picked me up at the airport after they know that I would be in their city then took me home for they did not allow me to stay at the hotel.
After lunch, they took me around the city to recall the past when I visited them in my teens. Yes, we have never met again since then even though I travel to that city quite often. In the afternoon they took me to Slili Beach. The beach was quite empty of visitors because it was already late, besides most of the people in my country that are predominantly Muslims are fasting since the past seven days to the next three weeks.
Since we arrived at the beach, the clouds have closed the sky. Approaching dusk the clouds were getting darker but I think I was lucky because the scenery became so beautiful. Of course, it also gave me the opportunity to share the same sky in another place from my country.
Bit unfortunate that we didn’t stay too long on the beach because my cousin’s wife felt a little worried about the dark cloud. Well, at least I have decent pictures to share in Sky Sunday, right?

Thanks for the compliment, Ta. Glad you love it.
if your fear is proportional to the danger, it would be appropriate. but when it is greater, the fear becomes irrational…
Is there a formula for calculating or a certain way to measure proportional fear or that is proportional to the exact hazard?
the exact ratio would vary from person to person. and if you’re allergic to bee stings, it is expected that a bee would make you fear for your life. but if you aren’t and you just freak out anyway, that’s irrational…
I agree with that, it’s just that, do we really know everything we fear and how reasonable is that?
if you see a spider which you know to be non-poisonous, a fear of it is pretty irrational. if you see something which you know or strongly suspect as poisonous, then you can react in a reasonable manner…
can this be expressed as a mathematical formula or algorithm? certainly. does it already exist? possibly, but I don’t know of it
Okay, thank you for your thoughts. That makes perfect sense!
there is a notion of a proportional response

Wow, that is some storm brewing. Yes I have been afraid, and with good reason too. Love these shots.
Thanks for the compliment, Kim.
I don’t even know the type of cloud that has the potential to become a storm. Is that really one of its forms?
Aihh… I don’t believe you are afraid of things like that. Are you trying to appear humble for me??
You are welcome for the compliment. Yes, I do know the type of cloud formation that is called. It is a roll cloud. It can carry high winds, rain, lightening, and tornadoes.
I am afraid when I feel threatened by storms. They will make you humble if you weren’t already after you have seen a few tornadoes up close and personal.
So glad to know that information, Kim. I have also been in a storm several times, and am grateful that I am still fine.
I thought I’m not worried because I don’t know or don’t recognize threats.
I am not afraid of dark clouds, but my sister is. If the weather turns bad to where heading for cover is advised I start getting concerned. I think the man is a cousin.
You have enough courage for many things, dear friend. I am sure of that and admire it.
He is my brother-in-law, LaJenna.
I live in an archipelago surrounded by bodies of water. Getting caught by sudden change of weather like squall amidst the sea while crossing from island to island is a usual thing. And yes, Yogya is a nice place. I love the street food there – – – different from Bali’s.
Of course, sea fairies like you cannot be compared to land humans, let alone city humans. You have gotten used to dancing with sea storms but many people are even afraid to see dark clouds and lightning.
Indeed, Yogya and Bali have a different atmosphere… Which one did you like more?
A sea fairy who grew up few meters away from the sea but never learn how to swim ???. I have blind faith that God will not let me die by drowning ?.
I had peaceful feeling in Bali. I had happy tummy in Yogya. I cannot figure out which one I like more so I love them both ?
I also believe that you will not drown.
With that view, I think Bali and Yogya are like mystics with a harmonious heart and stomach.
I love the mix of sky, clouds, and beach you captured. I often ask myself if I am afraid of some things too much.
It is a tough Albert Monday question.
I do believe that fear limits us. Being afraid can be bad. But the side of fear is caution. I guess my friend, I cannot answer your question. I don’t know if you can fear too much.
It seems like at that moment nature has welcomed me with its special forms.
I strongly agree that fear limits us, in many ways. It is true that fear as a basic instinct gives us caution, but I think caution is also very relative, either very logical and unreasonable.
Walking in this path, as far as the steps that have been taken, I have started the question from the estuary of all scared, am I afraid to die? and question all the answers and reasons because it seems that more people are afraid of life than fear of dying.
ah you have stepped beyond to the more universal question. Do we fear life or do we fear death.
I know many people that fear their own failure, and therefore their own life greatly. They fear life more than anything.
I do know doctors, who chase death. Trying to take patients away from death time and time again. I wonder they in fact fear death more.
That way we realize that fear has filled our lives in all its forms, whether we are aware or not. That way, we also know that we have to weaken its power and its rules little by little, as much as possible.
It makes it more about the inner journey then, rather than the outward expansion.
we are the products of what we believe. But we are also the product of the energy we send to the universe.
Karma is an interesting energy to consider.
After we arrive at that point, I let the wisdom of this talk in your hands.
I do not feel afraid of this kind of sky. It can only make my rain wet. But I would take a lot of pictures because it does not happen every day. You were lucky.
Great! I agree with you, Elena. It’s a shame if such a beautiful phenomenon is just ignored.
Great capture, nothing much except rain and wind happens here in NZ but cant say it is like that in another place I don’t know much about
Yes, we have only sheet lightning rarely if any forked lightning.
Today it is been exceptionally windy so my back yard had plenty of Chokos. A bonus because I don’t have to reach up with a rake to get them
Thanks for the compliment, Pamela.
It seems that in general natural phenomena in your place are relatively safe.
Wahh… you look at nature’s actions wisely. That’s extraordinary!
What a dangerous mood of the weather in picture. Nice captured
Isn’t that very impressive?
Thanks for the compliment, dear friend.
I think it’s the Mother Nature behind everything that we see, feel or go through.
I agree with you, Suny. I choose to enjoy natural phenomena, and of course with cautious and always listen to intuition.
The sky looks pretty dramatic. Lovely picture there.
Nature often reflects the drama of life too, isn’t it?
Thanks for the compliment, Dawn.
Love this scene Albert. But I do keep a watch out for weather while out. I am not paranoid, only cautious. So beautiful. Glad you have such good family to offer their home to you.
That’s impressive, isn’t it?
Yes, indeed we have to be cautious.
Yes, in general, people in our country highly uphold kinship. I prefer to be independent in hotels for I’ll be free but manners require that we approve the request or we will be considered haughty or arrogant.
I’m afraid of the dark sea more than sky/clouds… lol
What are you afraid about the dark sea?
Clouds look really daunting, dear friend … I’m not exactly afraid of clouds, but I imagine what it will bring badly … I’m afraid of other things
Is something you fear related to storms for example?
Let’s say the lightning, dear friend… not that I’m just scared … I feel more embarrassed if they whip a lot in the sky
I see. lightning often makes people startled and anxious.
I saw from the car how the lightning struck the spruce and cracked it in half
I’ve also ever seen something like that, also one that beat a neighbor’s house.
Clouds look threatening. I’m scared of such clouds because they do not bring anything good.
You have good reason for that, dear friend. By the way, do you have an unpleasant experience with cloudiness like that?
Yes, from my childhood. Such clouds brought a severe storm. Our house was left without a roof.
Geez! I have guessed that you have certain experiences with it. Now I understand your reasons.
Dear friend, you know me very well ?
This dramatic sky makes a beautiful picture!
Yes, and I like it very much, but some are afraid.
