Dahlberg Daisy

The botanical name of this plant is Thymophylla tenuiloba , They are also known as golden fleece, golden dogwood. These are tiny flowers that may not be more than 1 cm wide but  these spring back no matter what you do to eradicate them from your garden.

I fell in love with these lovely flowers when I saw  them for the first time as I sat down on my university lawns. Little did I know then that I would have a relationship of a life time with them then.  I collected them and put them in a small vase filled with water, but then they didn’t last long.

The dahlberg daisy makes fantastic ground cover. They are annuals and they reseed themselves. They never grow more than 5 inches in height. if if they do they spread across the ground.

These are drought resistant and bloom in abundance. I have stopped growing them for years now. They just volunteer in my garden. They are all over the place that they annoy me and yet I love them.

These pretty little plants , so delicate and so fine have a mind of their own. If you don’t want them all over your garden don’t get them there in the first place. That is my lesson from these plants. There also come in white  with yellow centers.
