Crepe Blooms ~ Nature Thursday

Excited to share these Crepe Myrtle berries and blooms with you. They were planted in December last year. And already, they are starting to bloom. Amazing nature at its best. I have three of these along the side of my yard. And also one mature tree beside my house. All the same crimson color.

They come in different colors like pink, purple and white. But this crimson color really stands out when it is in full bloom. So cool to see how the green leaves appear first. Then these tiny cluster of berries. Then the berries open up as the blooms.

Sometimes the birds will come along and eat the berries before the blooms open. There are different types of crepe myrtle. Mine is the Indica, according to my local nursery.

  1. Yes I saw it a couple of days before but I could not post a comment since I am suffering from pain in my left shoulder and bicep. Thanks for posting such a nice image of Crepe Myrtle berries.

  2. That’s beautiful. I don’t think I’ve seen them before. The best thing I have to share now is the “fried egg poppy” . Just blooming. Have a great day

      • Oh, it’s native where you are. Matilija poppies, or Romneya coulteri – One Ca. native plant site called them “Queen of California Flowers”. – I wonder how these got up here. It’s that “Botany Of Desire” thing I guess. There is also the California Tree Poppy (for you) which I’ve never seen.

        • Oh awesome, I will have to check out the tree one for sure. Interesting… Did you know that this was almost the state flower? The orange one won because there are more of them.
