I live in a Catholic country and burial was the tradition. But in the past decades, cremation was getting popular maybe because of the cost of burial. I was surprised when my parents requested that they be cremated when they die. And that request was granted in 2009 for my mother and 2013 for my father. I guess cremation will be that standard in the years to come.

My brother was buried a long time ago in the late seventies due to a medical issue and back then for a low paid working class family it was expensive. Both my parents were cremated and I plan to be as well. The Bible verse ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Cremation seems to just speed it up a bit faster than laying in casket rotting away slowly.
I already have a lot beside my parents and brother for my time, but I am going to find an urn hopefully in the form of a dog and place it somewhere beside them as a guard and hopefully my nieces and nephew will take my ashes and put me in the dog urn for I am a dog person from when I was little. Sorry for such a long reply.
It seems to be the normal these day to cremate.
Most of my loves ones have been buried but I think cremation is healthier and takes no place at all.
