Who does not know hazel? The hazel is appreciated mainly for its fruits, hazelnuts. But the hazel hides of the active substance also in the leaves and bark.
The common hazel, Corylus avellana, is a shrub that is very widespread. It is found along forest paths and forest edges and is very fond of growing in overgrown areas. The hazel grows up to 8 meters high and has a strong, branched canopy. It has female and male flowers. Male flowers, kittens, develop in summer and stay through winter and open in early spring. The female flowers are hidden in flower buds and bloom from February to April. Hazelnuts develop from the flowers. Hazelnuts are full of vitamins, but for healing purposes, we also use bark and leaves of hazel, as well as “kittens”. “Cats” cure flu and pneumonia, and also help promote sweating. We make them in the form of tea.

These yellow “things” are flowers. From these flowers, a hazelnut develops later.
