The colossus of rhodes was a statue of Greek sun gold Helios erected in the city of rhodes it was constructed to celebrate Rhodes victory over the ruler of Cyprus
The colossus stood approximately 70 cubits or 33 meters high construction began from 292 BC
the approximate hight of the modern statue of liberty from the feet to crown making it the tallest statue of the ancient world

there are some doubts as to its height and whether or not it was stradling the harbor…
It was quite an accomplishment for its time.
