One of my favorite most colorful and unusual looking birds the toucan with its incredibly large beak. There are forty different species all over the globe. Toucans are native to the forests of South America. Their large beaks come in colors of black, blue, brown, green, red, and yellow. Surprisingly enough the beaks are lightweight and help the birds maintain their body temperature. Toucans enjoy fruit but will also eat insects, reptiles, and bird eggs. They make their nests in holes in trees.

The ones we have here have yellow beaks. Some birds are not meant to be pets , this is one of them.
It and that large beak would be all cramped up and miserable in a cage, Dawn
I am fascinate by the size of its beak. Nature does weird things (lol)
At least the beak is not heavy for the bird, Grace
I had first seen a toucan in a slot machine. But not in the zoo yet.
I live in a country where we don’t have such wonderful birds.
I have only seen these beauties in zoos. And on Fruit Loops commercials. 🙂
You have such a lovely garden, Carol if it were possible I could just picture one in enjoying your garden,
