Color Crazy Challenge – Purple Friday

I joined the Color Crazy Challenge started by Kim. It will be purple this week. For today’s challenge, I chose a macro hibiscus flower. Hibiscus is a deciduous shrub with upright growth. It blooms from late summer to mid-fall. The flowers are pink with a dark red center (the heart of the flower). It responds to prolonged drought by dumping buds. If the shoots are damaged by low temperatures, cut them back to the first live bud in the spring. The genus is quite large, comprising hundreds of species native to warm temperate, subtropical and tropical regions around the world. Hibiscus blossom tea is widely known around the world and is served hot and cold. The drink is known for its red color, spicy taste and vitamin C content.

  1. This is called the rose of Sharon. It belongs to the hibiscus family. Great shot Lado, I need to prune mine too, it isn’t doing too well for some reason.

    • Thank you for your visit and nice comment, dear friend…it has a nice name …. i only know it under hibiscus … thanks for the clarification

  2. Lovely flower. I just love the purple color,. I enjoy hibiscus tea, I brew up the tea and because it is tart I mix it in with some regular tea and it all comes out really delicious.
