Coleus Leaves with the Orton Effect (2018-07-28 17-28-45a)
The flowers were growing in a garden in my neighborhood. I’m not sure which cultivar this one is. The site I went to had several that were similar but none of them were quite close enough.
The photo was taken with a Nikon Coolpix P7700 camera. Editing was done using Luminar 3. I used the RAW Develop filter to increase the contrast, shadows and clarity and reduce the highlights. Then I added the Accent-AI filter and used the Tone filter to lower the SmartTone slightly. Lastly I added the Orton and Image Radiance filters, fine-tuning them.

Luminar 3 Review
If you have looked at any of the photos I have shared on Virily you will notice that I was a big fan of a photo editing program called Luminar 2018. I loved it. Then came the update to Luminar 3 which added a library module to the program. I updated but found the new version unusable. Except for a few minor changes, the only difference between the 2018 version and the 3 version was the library but it slowed the program down so much that it was virtually unusable. The 3.0.1 bug fix did nothing to help the situation.
I’m happy to report that, the latest update, 3.0.2, while still slow compared to ACDSee Ultimate 2019, is, at least, fast enough to make the program usable.
One caveat: when I say usable I am not including the library module. It is still awful. Other than the fact that Skylum has been promising a library for a year or so and wanted to get something out there, I can see no good reason to use the library.
One other difference between 2018 and 3: The older version used to allow you to save your work and either change it or continue with it at a later time. For some unknown reason they removed that. They say it will be back at some future point. They really need to restore that function ASAP.

I have not used Luminar but plan to Gary. This is a beautiful effect.
Every once in a while they put it on sale.
I have never used Lunimar 3 to edit the image … I do not even know how it works
If you ever decide to try it out, it’s easy to use and there are a ton of instructional videos out there.
I tend to wander in and out of editing programs for my pictures. Right now I am using Photoshop express.
Never heard of Photoshop Express. I’ve used Elements and it did some things very nicely but I stopped with #13. Is Express a subscription service?
Sorry, i meant Photoshop Elements. I got it with my scanner and have lived with the bugs since!
It’s not a bad little program. It has some very nice features.
Honestly, i struggle with editing my father’s pictures. As my mother reminds me often, dad loved his pictures. Once we scanned them, I have to leave them alone.
The only thing I use it for is when I cut pictures up to use in a power point.
