Coins for good luck

In our family tradition, we spread coins on the floor of the home, from the living room up to the bedroom and that includes the bathroom, dining room and kitchen. We have a terrace so the terrace floor also would have coins that are scattered an hour before the midnight of New Year’s eve.

That tradition started in the family for some generations. It is meant to give the family not exactly wealth but just enough so as not to be wanting or needing in finances. Even if others don’t believe, we don’t care because for us, spreading money on the floor is a sign of wealth that comes back to our pocket. And the culmination of the coins is the picking up by the kids. What you pick is what you get – they are all yours to keep.
