This chapel is located near Salzburg, Austria. One of the reasons this church is famous is that this is where the well known and beautiful hymn Silent Night was performed publicly for the first time. The lyrics were a poem penned by Joseph Mohr. Franz Xaver Gruber composed the music score and it was created to be accompanied by an organ.
On the day the song and was going to debut the organ was not working. It was performed with the accompaniment be a simple guitar. To me it seems perfect, much like the birth of the Christ-child. He came into a stable and angles softly sang.
I really like the story about how it happened at the St. Nicholas Church.

It is a great story and I would interested in seeing it as well.
I did not know the fact that the church is Austria was the first time the song “Silent Night” was sung for the first time. It is one of my favorite songs next O’ Holy Night.
O’ Holy Night is indeed another great piece of music, thanks for the reminder.
I remember the late Donna Summer singing “O’ Holy Night” on the Solid Gold Christmas Special that was hosted by Dionne Warwick.
Such a magnificent church!!!! I love Silent Night and was impressed by the story! Thank you!
I am glad I was able to share something new to you.
