Carnival celebration

In our country, this week we have a celebration of the carnival. Carnival is one of the oldest folk customs, which stems from the time before Christianity.  In this period they include many traditions. During this time, people are dressed in carnival costumes. This folk tradition is supposed to persecute the winter and call spring. On this occasion, our ancestors performed rituals honored by the spring forces and persecuted the remnants of winter. They believed that the ritual from the land itself would have devastated the evil spirits, cleansed by the dark forces, and summoned a warm spring in which nature would awaken again.

      • Our Easter Tradition for most inbred NZ people is eating Hot Cross buns on Good Friday, and Easter Eggs on Sunday. Most of us are not church goers but my church that I associate with, Church of England or Anglican has lent, which started on Weds. People give up something for lent, it is supposed to give character development. Pancake Tuesday is using up eggs before lent.
Our family never celebrated this tradition.
The Easter Show which I mentioned used to be really good but through time, sometimes OK other times not. Generally it is the only fair we enjoy for the year, carnival rides and times of entertainment.
