or hear the sound of
ice cubes clinking in the serving jug
the smile
not pasted on.
grape for a quarter
cherry for two quarters
lemonade is free.
Can you smell the sound
as it shapes around the cup
the read pouring over
the lip to stop at the bottom
and push back up.
Are you holding tightly
are you wearing blue shoes
are you smelling all
the sounds
as the koolaide
swirls?
Two for a dollar
four for a dollar
or free
the cherry sounds like the
circus
but slides down well.
Can you taste the koolaide?

I never had a lemonade stand …. the song is great, my friend
Thanks – It is one of the older ones in my collection.
Again, your evergreen song … great, dear friend
I have always loved the idea of lemonade stands but never had one.
we were always planning one, having one and we were going to be rich.
By the time we paid mom back we usually had enough to split one ice cream 🙂
I did not have a lemonade stand though I adore it
Thanks it was a right of passage in the US…
Dustin had a stand a few times and did very well.
The kids in our neighborhood did very well, also!
Very nice poem. Yes, I had a lemonade stand.
Those were some of the best memories of my childhood!
nicely written poem , thank you for sharing
Thanks I am glad you found value in the words.
