Can pets be contaminated by corona virus?

It is confusing to read articles about the facts and myths on the corona virus. One item is about the pets. That the animals can be contaminated by humans who have the virus. But the animal cannot transfer the virus to humans. There is another article that says otherwise which means there is no scientific proof.

The corona virus can live and propagate inside the human body. But outside, it can stay alive on a metal surface for 12 hours and a shorter life span on non-metal surfaces. With the contamination to animals, it is possible because the virus is naturally in search of a host and a warm-blooded animal is a potential hose. Maybe the scientists are so busy right now with the human contamination that they have no time to test the animals.
