Cake Box was Childhood Delight

Cake Box Bakery in Kingston, upstate New York was the source of many delightful Sunday morning breakfasts when I was a child. Every summer my parents would ship me out along with a baby sitter to a place in the Catskill Mountains so that I could spend my summers away from the hot city. They would come up on the weekends which of course were always eagerly awaited. All of the parents whose children were living upstate in rented rooms or bungalows had discovered a wonderful bakery in Kingston.

So Sunday morning breakfasts consisted of freshly baked apple turnovers, jam-filled pastries and lots of other baked treats. Just recently I remembered what the bakery was called and was pleasantly surprised that even though it has moved location several times it still exists. The best thing is that many people still applaud their baked goods.

One of these days I will have to take a nostalgic trip back to upstate New York and have my fill of freshly baked goodies. The only difference will be that instead of a cold glass of milk I’ll have a steaming mug of coffee. As soon as I discovered that they are also on FB I quickly liked the page. It’s like discovering another old friend online.
