Bundesliga 5/18/20 match

The German Bundesliga will close out its first weekend of matches back from the pandemic with a match on Monday.  Werder Bremen will be hosting Bayer Leverkusen.  The game will be televised on Fox Sports 2 and Fox Sports Deportes at 2:30 PM EST.

Werder Bremen was once a powerhouse a few years ago.  Now, they are mired in the relegation zone in 17th place.  However, a win will only put them two points behind Fortuna Dusseldorf, which holds the relegation playoff spot at 16th.  Their place in the standings shows how much the Bundesliga has improved over the years.

Bayer Leverkusen sits in fifth place.  However, a win could put them one point out of fourth place.  The top four teams in the Bundesliga qualify for the Champions League next season.  We will find out if this team wants to go to the Champions League again or if they want to settle for the Europa League.

    • This match will be all over the place. Both defenses are atrocious. Even though Leverkusen is near the top, they look to outscore teams instead of looking for defensive clashes. Plus, Leverkusen’s top attacker is possibly out due to injury. This match could really go either way if Leverkusen is caught off-guard. I still think Leverkusen is going to win, but it will be interesting.

    • Since the Bundesliga is back, I don’t need to post about the Belarus Premier League. Their 15 minutes of fame is now complete. Plus, La Liga training begins again today. I need Espanyol to get out of the relegation zone.

      • It is really strange that Espanyol was in Europa League but they are doing so badly in the domestic title. The city of Barcelona will lose a lot if Español descends this year. The thing is that the whole of Spain is doing good and the coronavirus is controlled except for Madrid and Barcelona, they are suffering a lot (the region of Madrid is the only one whose whole territory is in the stage 0 of the crisis) and perhaps La Liga is delayed because of Madrid and Barcelona. THESE DAMN BIG CITIES, ALWAYS MESSING UP!!!
