Blue Eggs ~ Nature Tuesday

Excited when I found these tiny blue Chipping Sparrow eggs in my honeysuckle bush awhile back. Chipping sparrows are smaller than house sparrows. Very striking little birds.

Sharing the photo with today’s Nature Tuesday challenge.

Amazing where some of the birds build their nests. It is tiny and nestled in the foliage of the honeysuckle. Often times, the eggs do not survive as they are exposed to many predators. But thankfully these three eggs survived and fledged from my yard.

Miracles of nature all around us, just take the time to look. Another photo below of a chipping sparrow in my cypress tree. Hidden very well.

  1. What beautiful eggs and bird…I have never seen this bird.
The only way to get more birds here and encourage them to live is to get rid of all the cats that kill them
I happen to like cats a lot, I am not sure how to teach cats not to kill birds.
If I see one stalking birds they get told off and sprayed with water but they come back later.

  2. Just lovely shade of blue which would make a great poster on your wall. I have to admit like many of your other commenters that I have never seen blue eggs. But that is what living in the city with a tiny backyard means although we have hares, raccoons, deer’s sometimes…

  3. It’s the first time that I saw a blue egg. They are amazing! I don’t know if I already saw a Sparrow because I don’t see a bird often so I could not distinguish one from the other.
