Be a Good Neighbor

It is very important to be a good neighbor. Why? You never know went circumstances might require that you all work together to solve a problem. It’s not too tough to be a good neighbor. Here are some simple guidelines to get you headed in a neighborly direction.

Be quiet

No, you don’t have to whisper, and still remember that your neighbors may have very different sleeping habits than you. If you are planning something loud and boisterous, let your neighbors know. We have a very large gathering once a year and we only have one neighbor that it is close enough to bother. So we set them up and pay for a hotel night for them. It works great for all involved.

Be Respectful of Privacy

Try not to show up unannounced. If you are coming unannounced have a message ready with what you needed to leave at the door.

Borrowing Things

It is acceptable to borrow things from a neighbor as long as it is returned promptly and in “better” condition than you received it.  If you can’t make it physically better you can include a thank you note with a gift card or perhaps a healthy and tasty treat. Be creative.

Avoid Gossip

It just makes good sense not to fall into that trap. If someone approaches with a story they want to share. Be kind and frank. “I really don’t need to know this, I appreciate you thinking for me. I am running to the store can I pick up anything for you?”

Keep Up Your Property

Curb appeal matters and you don’t want to be the problem. So keep things as nice and upkeep the things that need work.

Welcome to the neighborhood.
