Bad Habits That Are Good Habits

Teenager is chatting on laptop in his untidy room

Even though there are people who think that chewing gum is not the best habit to have there is a plus side to it. Chewing gum can actually increase thinking and alertness because it helps to increase the flow of blood to the brain. Also, it was discovered that people who chewed sugarless gum before eating actually had fewer cravings for sweets and ate around 36 fewer calories.

Did you know that it can be good to live like a slob? Not having everything very tidy can actually help you to breathe much easier. In a study, it was discovered that dust mites which can cause an outbreak of hayfever-like symptoms and perhaps set off asthma attacks couldn’t survive in messy and unmade beds because the conditions were too warm and dry for the dust mites.

To help you stick to your diet it helps to have a little treat like a cookie along with your high-protein, high-carbohydrate breakfast such as eggs and whole-wheat toast and you could also lose more weight than if you had a low-carb, low-calorie breakfast.

There are people who consider social sites such as Facebook a waste of time. However, taking a break to relax from intensive work to interact with friends or take a look at their posts or pictures can actually improve your mood and make you feel much better.

So you see these habits that might be considered bad habits could actually benefit you. Just let’s not overdo the bad habits.

    • I have acquired a bad habit during our rainy weather and that is lying down for afternoon naps and then not being able to finish up the work I need to do every day online, Carol, I hope the sun comes back and brings me back my energy,

  1. what a great post! Funny story – when my wife and I were first married we struggled. She likes her house organized, but her car is a mess. Me, I don’t care about the house organized but my car has to be neat.

We struggled for years until we finally came to a consensus. My office is my space, her office is her space.

her car, my car are separate. It has worked for the last 24 years. Just took us a while to figure it out!

  2. The Spanish writer, Jose Bergamin, (1895 to 1983), might not have agreed with you…LOL…

“There are no good or bad habits. All habits are, by definition, bad.”

I guess he means that anything that has become a habit is holding us to it, unconsciously so.

I cannot think of any good benefits from the bad habit of smoking though.

  3. I agree with you bad habits are beneficial in some instances though we shouldn’t overdo them.
We are told not to be childish when we’re supposed to behave like adults. Sometimes I behave in childish ways because it lowers stress and helps one appreciate life.
