Babies in Backyard

Walking around in my backyard can bring many surprises. I had my camera with me this time. Looking up in the trees where I know bird nests are, I found this surprise looking back at me. The male and female parents were fussing at me as I was a little too close to their babies.

I moved very slowly and took a few photos, then came back inside. I do not want to be attacked or have the birds leave the nest too soon. You have to be very careful while getting close to these bird babies.

Care to guess what these birds are? I had to hold the camera as high as possible to get these. The nest was built high in the pine tree.

I will reveal the answer soon!

  1. Lovely photo Carol. so pleased you have young fledglings in a nest. I wouldn’t be able to guess as these are american birds..They are lovely..
Our New Zealand robin lives in bird sanctuaries and are on the endangered list.

    Bluebird (3 votes) – 25%
    Robin (4 votes) – 33%
    Mockingbird (2 votes) – 17%
    None of these (1 votes) – 8%

    And the answer is Robin!

  3. I have to go funny and guess Dodo.

    oh wait they are extinct.

Let me change my answer I guess an African Swallow as they fly faster than the European Swallows (if of course, you are a Monte Python fan).

  4. I took a wild guess as robins. But what a great shot. Just hope you did not try to climb the tree to get this close. I assume you used a zoom on your camera.

    • Absolutely I used the zoom. My knees are still not 100%, so no ladders for me. And the parents would have probably attacked if I had gotten any closer. They were chirping away nearby as I stood there. Thanks, they are so cool to see.

    • These are robins. Remember I showed the male and female robins with food in another post? They were going to feed these babies. This is what I have had no bluebirds this year. The robins have taken over the yard.
