The Asters in my garden have been planted from seeds. I admit they were planted a bit late in spring so they have just begun to bloom in mid-September. I love Asters since they bring a splash of color to the garden and bloom well into autumn. Butterflies and bees love them and that is one of the best reasons to add them to the garden every year. They also make great cut flowers even though I do this sparingly.
Asters are daisy-like, firm and stately flowers and some species can grow up to 8 feet. They are perennial but there are also annual varieties. Colors include, violet, purple, pink, blue and white. There are about 250 types of Asters and they come in varying heights. While I grow them from seed by simply spreading them in the garden, they can also be started indoors for earlier flowering and for container gardens. Asters are happy in shady areas and after they are established they need very little attention and minimal watering.

Astra are beautiful flowers and unpretentious
Astra are very beautiful and durable flowers – undemanding
So true. We have had some snow and freezing temps and they are still blooming.
Astra are very beautiful and resistant … I have them in the garden
Nice to hear that. They are resistant indeed.
Adore daizy-type flowers, grew Asters in my garden for some years. Now I don’t have a garden, so care for Asters in flower pots.
They also do very well in containers. I also have some in pots.
I just discovered them a few years ago and have been hooked ever since
nice and amazing post.
Thanks for visiting. I had fun doing it.
Waoo That’s Great..You’re Welcome.
Do I have Asters? No. Why not? No idea. But after seeing yours I need them. Beautiful.
I would love to see your Asters when you grow them
