Autumn Joy Matures

Sharing another photo of my Autumn Joy sedum in Dustin’s garden. I transplanted it from a container this year. And I am so pleased with how well it has done. You never know when you transplant how a plant will do.

This sedum is a favorite in the garden. And so easy to maintain. I have had this plant for about ten years now. It starts each spring as a green leafy plant. As the season progresses it gradually changes to pink, then finally a burgundy color in the autumn.

Below are a couple of photos showing the progression.

I will cut it all the way back in a couple of weeks, before the first frost. Mulch it really good and it will return in the spring to do this all over again. I recommend this plant for anyone looking for a low maintenance plant. And the butterflies love it.

The plant has no nectar but it is sort of a landing pad for them as it has flat places perfect for landing and resting.
