It was a sad day for Australians when their bet in tennis fell by the wayside in the semi-finals. Ashleigh Barty, who is currently ranked world number 1 was defeated by 21-year old Sofia Kenin in 2 sets. What a heart-breaker to lose in the the Australian Tennis Open.
In the men’s side, world number 1 Rafael Nadal also lost in the semi-finals to Dominic Thiem in 4 sets which means Nadal won only 1 set. Thiem who is ranked #5 will meet world number 2 Novak Djokovic in the finals. In the women’s side, Kenin who is ranked #14 will meet unseeded Garbine Muguruza who is unseeded but is on a comeback. Muguruza is a former world number 1 in the rankings.
