Aurora Borealis, Northern Lights

Many years ago we lived on Lake Erie just 15 feet up from the beach; so we had a clear view across the lake.  One evening we went outside and saw the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis which is very unusual from our latitude.  It looked like green streaks and swirls in the sky and was quite amazing. The Northern Lights are a result of disturbances in the magnetosphere caused by solar wind.  There is a much more detailed description; but it’s very technical.
