In our culture, a formal occasion requires a formal wear, i.e. gown for the women and for the men it can be suit with a necktie or the native Barong (as worn by the guy in the picture). But lately I have noticed that some invited guests would attend in their ordinary tops of short sleeves and sometimes even collarless shirts. Worse, some women come wearing pants (or slacks as they prefer to call it).
Maybe it is the sign of the times that culture is changing not for the better but for the worse. The traditional fashion of the olden times is now shifting to a new one that is carefree and bereft of limitations. In other words, requirements for the attire is being ignored for formal occasions. It makes me wonder where the new generation is headed.

Yes, I always dress up for any formal occasion. How could be otherwise?
Yes , i dress up for any formal occasion
i always wear a suit, but I do see more and more people that do not. I grew up with the clothes you wear to honor the people the event is for.
I think people now believe showing up is the honor.
Alex, you would think people would find an excuse to want to dress up for an occasion. I guess not. When I go to something special I do dress up.
