Angels In My Life

In today’s photo, you see a little plastic angel statue. The angel is playing the violin and has wings that snap off. I don’t know why they made it that way because if the angel falls down the wings pop off. Anyway the story behind the angel in an interesting one.

The first love of my life came along in high school. As usual, at that time the sun rose and set on my boyfriend and I went to high school every day barely touching the ground. It was a time that was most memorable. Even though it was in the 1970s we were a  – you could say saccharine-sweet pair who even had their own song.

Our song was “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” because in high school you never know. Anyway, our romance had already faded by the time high school came to an end. We still kept in touch but not too often. Anyway, his mom had taken a real liking to me and now and then I went to visit her. When she tragically had some blood vessels popped in her eyes she could barely see. At this time she liked it that I went to see her at least once a week to help her out with things she had trouble with due to her poor vision.

So I would help her clean closets and other things which she couldn’t do on her own. At times I would even make dinner for the family and join them but I can tell you it made me feel like I was in the twilight zone sitting down to dinner with her, her husband and my former boyfriend. It was like a scene in any family yet we were not a family.

During this time the angel came into my life. I admired it and she gave it to me. I still have some other things as well. So this time always comes back fondly in my memories. I have forgotten how we parted but I guess my university obligations overtook my spare time and we just sort of drifted apart. Today I still remember that apartment building they lived in, I was friends with my former boyfriend through FB and he had a loving wife and a wonderful family but the memories are sweet and it is good to know we both had good lives. Unfortunately, he passed away in October 2019 and that hit kind of hard because we were born in the same year.
