Take a look at this amazing photo of an Andean mountain cat. I had never heard about this cat before until I saw its picture online. This is a small wild cat can be found in the Andean mountains of Peru, Bolivia, Northern Chile, and northwestern Argentina. This mountain cat first came into view in 1865 and it wasn’t until 1997 when it was photographed by ecologist and small wild cat specialist Jim Sanderson. Unfortunately today this cat is on the endangered list.
The Andean mountain cat is not very much bigger than a domestic cat. Its fur and thick and it has a long tail that seems to make it look bigger. This cat has a silver kind of fur with some darker colored spots and black rings on the tail and limbs. Its prey appears to be rodents like chinchillas. Presently there at less than 2,500 Andean mountain cats in this world. There is legislation that protects these cats in all of the four countries where they reside. It is bad that there is continued hunting of them as well as the loss of habitat and prey. One bad thing is that rural Chileans and Bolivians traditionally believe that if anyone encounters a mountain cat then they must kill it for spiritual power and in order to prevent bad luck from happening.

wow , what a beautiful cat , thanks for sharing
Wow, I would like to have it as a cat. It’s cute. Sad, how some superstitious beliefs leads to near-extinction of animals.
The Andean mountain cat is cute and probably would be a nice pet.
How stunning. I hope they can all be protected.
I also heard about this cat for the first time, dear friend
