In allergic individuals, the immune system releases antibodies to certain allergens, believing that can be dangerous, but really are not. Among the most common symptoms, allergic reactions can cause nasal drip, sneezing, itching, and rash, edema (swelling) and asthma.
Among severe allergic reactions, one of the most worrying is anaphylaxis. Each year about forty people die from it in the United States. Usually, it is caused by food, insect stings and medications.
