Advent time is a time of spiritual and worship preparation for Christmas. It begins with the celebration of the first Advent Sunday this year, December 2, and ends the week after the fourth Advent Sunday on Holy Day, December 24. Unlike fasting, which we commemorate as a preparation for Easter and lasts forty days, Advent time is not limited to the exact number of days. With Advent time in the Catholic Church, they begin a new church year and direct preparation for Christmas.

Thank you for your visit and nice comment, dear friend……
Thanks for your kindness, dear friend
Thank you again, dear Tas
I have a few Christmas wreaths which I have recently hung, but I had no idea that they were for Advent.
Thanks for viewing and a friendly comment, dear Pamela…here we call them Advent wreaths … we have some on the table (these have candles) and we also hang them (for example, on the front door) and they are without candles
I am not a church goer although my belief is Christianity..I think its a very nice tradition.
I am not a devotee either and I do not attend church only of these customs, but I have been sticking to it since childhood … it is a very nice custom for me
I do not celebrate advent but I love Christmas dear friend
Thanks for watching and kind comment, dear friend…I only celebrate it so much that I light one candle every Sunday on an Advent wreath
Advent is just a cool sounding word
Thank you for your visit and nice comment, dear friend……But for you, advent is just a nice word … for me it is a nice holiday
for you, advent is a holiday. for me, advent is part of a title for artwork… cool titles are important
I will wait for your post on Advent, dear friend
it might just have advent in the title and have nothing to do with the holiday
Well, I’ll be careful anyway, my friend
I love Advent time so I have an Advent wreath
Thanks for viewing and a friendly comment, dear Vidocka…and you will light 1 candle on Sunday
You are right. The first candle will light on Sunday
To me, that’s a nice custom, dear Vida
To me, this is the most beautiful custom
You will cook something good and invite me to Christmas dinner, dear Vidocka
Beautiful tradition, we don’t have it here. We have 40 day Christmas fasting, but most people don’t do it.
Thanks for watching and kind comment, dear Ellie…You see, we don’t have a fast … but every Sunday by Christmas, we light one candle in an Advent wreath
Sounds like a lovely tradition!
That’s right, dear friend … it’s more of a tradition than anything else
There is no special celebration of the advent in my country, dear friend.
Thank you for your visit and nice comment, dear Albert….you are not celebrating Christmas either?
Of course I will celebrate Christmas with my mother and all of my siblings’ families even though some of them have different beliefs.
It is also our tradition to gather the whole family on Christmas Eve and then go to Mass .. at 24.00 .. midnight
Maybe Christmas Eve is one of the most important happy days of the year.
For me, it is surely the most beautiful evening of the year, dear Albert … only the snow has to be here … it’s more fairytale
The countdown begins now until Christmas.
Thanks for viewing and a friendly comment, dear friend….From Sunday who is the 1st Advent Sunday
We need to focus on the second coming, that is what the advent is meant for but somehow people have no clue that Yeshuah is not coming back as a baby but as a just King.
Thanks for watching and kind comment, dear Dawn….this is what I heard for the first time
When I lived in Latvia every Advent my late husband and I made an Advent wreath and lit the candles one by one as per the Advent Sunday leading up to Christmas. Now, I just light a candle each Sunday but no longer use a wreath
Thank you for your visit and nice comment, dear Sandra….i bought an advent wreath and will also light one candle every Sunday … the first one this Sunday
I know it is coming of Christ phase but nothing is celebrated here.
Thanks for viewing and kind comment, dear Grace…you are not celebrating anything during this period?
I just make plans for the Christmas party for the less privileged
We have a habit of gathering the whole family for dinner on Holy Night (the night before Christmas) and then going to Mass
That is done here as well We also prepare sweets, decorate the house and stuff and also distribute sweets.
Well, we have the same custom … we give gifts, too, dear friend
Enjoy the celebration my friend.
Thanks for watching and kind comment, dear Carol….Thank you so much … but you don’t celebrate or light any candles?
