Thyme

lat.Thymus vulgaris

There are many species and genera, but all of the genus Thymus are used in cooking.This herb combines well with white onion, tomato, olives and wine, which is in fact a distinctive feature of Mediterranean cuisine.Unlike sage, it does not bother if it is cooked longer in the meal.When cooking various flesh or mushroom doors, add some fresh leaves of the plant. You can also add fries or grilled meat over fries.Make a marina with the addition of thyme.

Tea from thyme improves appetite, and is also used against distractions in digestion and overpowering.For medical purposes, syrup against coughing is used.It has a beautiful aroma and smell that is not lost or dried.When it is read, it should not be rooted out of the root to destroy the species, but rather cut the scissors into the branch.

Sage

Sage as a spice is mainly used for  meat of veal and pork, fish, warm boiled vegetables and somewhere served with pasta. It takes a bit when it is eaten and over the meat sprinkle with finely chopped leaves.  It is used in small quantities because it has a strong aroma.It’s a Mediterranean plant.It’s good if you can plant it in a garden.Sage is used to flush mouth and throat in inflammation, due to the ingredient of tannin that strengthens the mucous membrane and essential oil that works antiseptically.Sage  in folk medicine uses stones in the urinary tract, kidney disease, rheumatism, and tachycardia.It can also be drunk as tea, but only as instructed.It’s decorative in the garden because of its silky sheet.

Sweet basil

This plant of perfume is known as an antiseptic, and the church has been used since ancient times.People know her power to make mosquitoes. who do not like her smell. But we can use it in our kitchen when cooking food.It is used as a preparation for pasta, vegetable, bean, or bean meal.It can be added to ready-made soups, or sprinkled with fennel fish.You can sprinkle soft cheese, garlic and a little fresh basil and get a healthy and delicious spread instead of industrial pasta.Sweet basil does not need to cut a knife because of the oxidation and loss of valuable minerals.Use your fingers, not a metal knife.You can grow it in the garden or in the pots on the window.You can use it as a tea in medicine.It helps with nutrition, asthma and cough.I think they lift blood pressure. I do not use it because of it, but you still check it.In any case, smells and scents mosquitoes in your surroundings.

  1. Ever since I got married (40+ years ago) I altered my cooking to suit my husband’s taste buds. The only herb I use regularly is thyme. My husband does not like basil or sage. As for any of the other herbs, he can take ’em or leave ’em. But in his mind, no kitchen is complete without thyme in the spice cabinet.
