Abandoned Hobby

Before I started working full time, I am spending my free time creating some crafts. I know how to sew clothes, pillowcases, bed covers, and bags. I can crochet Barbie doll’s dresses, table covers, hats, and purses. But my most favorite of all my hobbies was cross stitching. I have done some pieces of projects. I did some for my friends and relatives.

However, when I started working, I can’t find the time anymore for my hobbies. Much more when I started to work online. Yesterday, while cleaning the house, I noticed that one of my cross-stitched projects was slightly deformed. I took it down from the wall and I found out that the frame needs to be replaced.

I felt some sadness while looking at my angel. I wish I could have time for my hobbies again. But I know that even if I want to do my hobbies again, I know I won’t be able to do it this time.

    • Thank you for visiting and commenting. I had several projects which were damaged. But this one can be fixed because it was only the frame that was deformed.

  1. I can put my hand to do anything, as most people can. I am trying out a pen & ink colour but it is my first one and takes a lot of time as there is a lot of detail.

    • Yes, painting also requires a lot of time. But what is important is the result you get after the long arduous work. Thank you for dropping by, Pamela.

    • Thank you for sharing your hobby. For me, it’s a part of my obligation and my job. Well, I believe it’s everyone’s obligation to save the world for the future generation.

  2. Saying about a cross stitch. I, thanks to this occupation, came out of a terribly big depression years ago. Then it became my hobby. Now I do not see the goggles with the glasses. My hobby and passion is now photography.

    • Do you mean cross stitching has become your occupation before? That’s great! Well, I can see how well you are doing with photography. I wanted to learn about it too. I am still saving for my camera.

  3. I am not sure. I am writing for another site and I need to focus there especially with the current competition in the online field. That is the place where I get most of my online income. I also have my own blog which I need to update frequently. Lately, I started to give Virily more attention to see how far I can fo with the site. I have a Forum which is equally rewarding. Coming June, I need to enroll in my law studies. I just don’t know how I can make time for my hobbies.

There are two things that could possibly change the situation. One, that I get promoted to a higher position with a higher salary and two, that I may be reassigned or get another job nearer to my home.

  5. That angel is lovely!
You can find some time for yourself if you can maybe put some thing “on hold” for a while or ‘cut out a little time” for your hobby 🙂

    • Thank you, Branka. When I still have more time, I was able to complete several cross stitch works. I even had a landscape with a home and butterflies. But the item was damaged and I could no longer save it.

    • I’m afraid I can’t do it now because I need to prioritize my work. I am just hoping that good thing comes so I don’t need to take online working seriously like what I am doing now.

  6. What an adorable little angel. ? Working online feels almost like a hobby. ?
My mother used to cross stitch too, but she quitted because aging made it harder. The hardest part is at the very beginning: threading the needle. ?
I wanted to start crocheting, but I never got the time. Well, it’s more lack of will than time, but it doesn’t matter.

    • Thank you for the compliment, Sabtraversa. Yes, I also consider my online activities as a hobby and a source of additional income. But it seems that it is only me who can appreciate this stuff. Yes, aging is another thing. Perhaps in the future when I have more time after retirement, I could try gardening instead.
