A quick tutorial on how to open a Durian!!

Well, it’s the durian season again!! Yeay!!

My family loves durian, so it wasn’t a surprise that all over us could open a “ripe-enough” durian.

I’ve seen pastry chef struggle with “chopping open” a durian, but well, you don’t need to chop them open. With the right technique, they can be open easily with a screwdriver or key or even a spoon. But of course, it depends on the level of ripeness and how thick the skin is.

well some says it smells and taste like cat poop (seriously not sure why someone would have tasted cat poop LOL)

    • It takes awhile to find the “lines” but with enough tries, it’ll be easy…
even I can’t be 100% percent sure, and have made mistakes…
just have to observe closer to get another line 🙂

      • If I (maybe with someone else) eat durian at the place we bought, we just have to open it by hand without the job of splitting it with a knife again, but if I buy it to eat at home, I have to do all the tasks of opening the durian, and others just eat it.

    • Definitely, durian is not a very popular fruit, I guess…
But well, in case someone is interested in making some durian pastry and have difficulty opening it :p
