Good morning!
Time to reopen for the 9th or so time, how can we make our site better. One of the things that a lot of people have noticed lately is that their comments are being downvoted. Check the polls for a couple of recommendations and pick the option that you think fits best. I am having fun with all the downvotes. Right now, my personal best is 23 downvotes on a single post. I figure if I work hard, I can get to 30 downvotes! I am buying myself a new tech toy if I get to 30 downvotes on one spot! Fingers crossed that this is the post that pushed me to that new personal record of 30 downvotes. That would make my Friday just a little bit better have 30 downvotes to admire!
Plus, I get to buy a gadget, so for me, it is a win-win!
A couple of authors have reported they are experiencing two issues. I will list the problems next but wanted to note, please email the Support@virily.com email address. They need to know when things aren’t working correctly.
- Then you don’t have permission to post error. I know two authors have seen that. Always start with the “try another browser” option. It seems to go away in a couple of days, but of course, email support.
- The missing post-issue appears to have returned (you post, it is approved, but you cannot find it in your profile or on the site).
If you have either of these, let me know I am tracking issues. But please contact the support email, letting me know it is good, but the admin team can help you!
The excellent news polls appear to have been fixed (or at least back to the way there were!). I haven’t tried a quiz in more than two years, but I noticed authors were doing quizzes, and they were doing well! Please feel free to express your yes or no in the poll. The important thing, however, is, include comments. I send the information and the link to the post to the admin team, so comments become critical information for the admins!
I will end with this thought. Today is the first day to make changes that will last beyond tomorrow!

Two articles of mine were reverted to drafts but then I was not allowed to rewrite them. It is strange.

What did you say to have 23 downvotes??? Did you insult somebody???
well i suspect it is somebody that really wanted me to get to 30 downvotes. My wife said I could buy the gadget I wanted if I got 30 downvotes on a post and the person in question decided to be an awesome human being and help me reach that goal.

I agree that some change must be made. I trust you Doc and know that you will be able to stop what is harmful to us participants. I cannot understand where so much envy came from. Do you think someone blocked can do this?
yes. you can upvote or downvote without being logged in. Banned users, cannot log into the site but can still see and vote on content.

I hate to disagree, but I cannot upvote or downvote without signing in. I tried every browser I have and none of them will let me upvote or downvote. And the people who come from other places that I talk to every day say the same thing. The only thing they can do is share or take a poll.
i was able to use both IE and opera. I wonder what is different.

when i used tor i could not do anything.
my ie and opera have in the past been connected to virily.
so you have at one time have had an account to downvote. That narrows the field of people significantly.
I had the same problem with downvotes on some of my posts. My opinion is that they are given by a single person from outside the site. I’m sure you know who she is!
yes, I’ve tested with three different browsers. You can downvote or upvote comments without being logged into the site.
i got enough downvotes on this that my wife is letting me buy a new Gadget I have wanted. So whoever it is did me a great favor!!!!
Surely she would have given up opening your post 30 times and downvotes, if the external views had been paid !!😀
indirectly external views are paid (they site makes more money) so in the end I owe thanks twice tot he person that has downvoted my post so much!

This is new to me (I didn’t know it). I don’t understand how someone can work if they are not logged in.
you can only comment if you are logged in. If you aren’t you can still upvote and downvote.
personally i think we should remove the ability to upvote and downvote comments. Seems kind of silly to me honestly.
I don’t see any real value for the upvote or downvote. It seems to me to be a button that gives an option to say it was okay without leaving a meaningful comment. Sorry, I am hopping off of my soap box.

also I checked, if the browser has no account information (knows the user name but not the password) you cannot upvote or downvote.
That limits who is doing this radically. So I was wrong you were right!
Obviously the downvotes are done by some disgruntled member who probably does not post anything. Do you get points for downvote? Perhaps that is how this person collects points. I totally agree, we should not be penalized because someone has a sticky finger when it comes to downvotes. I feel that since we know who upvotes our post we should also know who downvotes it. I just contacted support today about missing posts that were pending for several days and I notice they have been approved and I can see them now.

When I try to make poll today, I still faced the problem when adding the poll’s answer.
did you try refreshing? i did nothing today to this poll and it worked. But I know refreshing will make the poll work!
These two issues are serious, I hope they get fixed.
I don’t think it’s possible for someone to up/downvote a post unless they log in, or at least it isn’t possible for me. I honestly don’t understand where the downvotes come from, but either way I think they don’t deserve that much attention.

Anyway, this means that just one person can put a ton of votes so the numbers don’t even matter. It seems that you reached your goal though.

I don’t understand it either. There are a lot of nice people here on the site. It’s a pity that negative behavior becomes “rewarded” with attention, both online and offline, instead.
I was going to say that you can trick your wife with the downvotes in this case.

That is a quiet a feat to garner 30 downvotes. I don’t know why they downvotes buy everyone has their reasons.
The poll is better. Refreshing twice will display the choices in questions. I have yet to try the quiz.
It isn’t fair to deduct virils for a reported case. They should look whether the comments are offensive or not and warn the user to observe the site’s rules.
i am at 13 on this post right now! i am so close to getting to buy a gadget!!!!!! i like your reasoning, i suspect they are still working through what this looks like in the end.
it is painful, I lose 200 virils in one weekend. had i known it was tit for tat I would have reported many more comments.
This is my first time I have received a downvotes. I suspect one user an if I exaggerate, less than five users are doing the task of downvoting. You received 30 downvotes on your reply to my comment. This is the work of not many people.
I think admin should look at this as it is not fair the virils are deducted when no violation or offense was committed.

Not to be sorry, it is a wonderful experience in itself. If things always go smoothly in life, it isn’t always enjoyable.
I am not sure that the person doing the downvoting feels that they have a voice.
