Browsing through my photo archives today. Searching for something different to share. I found a photo that is very special to me. Dustin enjoyed playing with the small matchbox cars. He had a box full of these cars. I have some displayed in my home.
Every time I went to the grocery store I would get him one. A special thing he and I had. He never asked for one, but he knew I would get one just the same.
These cars are only about two inches long. Very small. Some of them have lost their wheels. He played with them often and for a few years.
I would ask him which was his favorite. He never could decide. He had so many. These two in the photo I remember seeing a lot. So I am assuming they were at least two of his favorites. I know he liked Dale Earnhardt (Nascar driver) and that car is here somewhere.

When I was a child model cars were for boys, but then I like the model cars too.
Very nice story & so good collection!!! Collected stamps + beautiful stones & stickers with characters from Hélène et les Garçons serial.
I had some Matchbook cars when I was a kid. Long, long ago. Nice post Carol – enjoy your day.

I have toys from my childhood that are still working 🙂
That is great, they don’t make them like that any more.
Actually you just reminded me … I’ve collected such small cars when I was a kid … and then I collected cute erasers that are about 1-2cm wide …
I collected quite a lot of things … lol
These are good memories of Dustin …

We did the same thing for the Twins until they were around 11.

I collected baseball cards as a child.
That is a great collection. Dustin loved football cards.
I liked playing baseball when I was living in Panama since it meant the approval of my late parents while American football was forbidden.
I have complete bazaar of such item in my home , my kids plays with it
That is great, these were my son’s.
So you have young kids at your home.
My older son was crazy about these too as a kid.
Am glad to have special memories.
I have a box full that were my son’s favorites.
My son, too, preferred to play with small cars. He had a lot of them.

Now with collections of such a small (iron) sports car collection of my great son playing my grandson. They are more than 20 years old.
Time flies doesn’t it my friend! I am happy to have these treasures of Dustin’s.
They do not make the toys like they used to.
There are no longer good quality toys that can be kept for a long time.
That is what I meant. They do not last any more.
