Back in the day, we used to buy a turkey from the grocery store and let it thaw for a week or so. Since moving to Maryland we’ve been getting fresh turkey’s from the Dutch Market. It is actually not a Dutch but more of a German (with the traditional meat cutters etc) market. But they have fresh turkey’s you can preorder and pick up the day before Thanksgiving. We also got to have a couple of members of my daughter’s fiance’s family (say that three times fast). It was a wonderful chance to get to meet one of my future son-in-law’s family (I had only met his mom and dad). Yesterday we also got to meet his sister. Overall the day was perfect. Although, I did only get to see the end of the Bears game (they beat the Lions). Funny, the very first Thanksgiving game I ever watched was the Bears vs the Lions at my grandparent’s house in Wisconsin. I asked my grandfather what team we were for, he said: “you’re a Bear’s fan-boy and you always will be.” I am Grandpa, I am!

Would love some turkey now. Great photo!
THanks. Ours is gone, as in two days after it was gone. But, such is the way of Turkey!
I feel like I am so full just looking at the picture.
We ended up way too much. I was cooking for 12 people but we ended up with 9. Three were sadly stricken by the flu the day before.
I love these dishes. From watching this photo, I’m hungry..hah.
It was delightful – thanks for stopping by!
The turkey looks a little different today. Looks delicious and I love stuffing and potatoes.
It looks even more different today, it is off the bone and in bags!
Very nice and I believe a delicious dish.
Otherwise I like such dishes with meat. Thanks.
Yes, I much prefer beef myself, but turkey is always fun!
MMM mmmm, mmm. You know how to cook a turkey!! That looks fabulous!! I answered yes to all the questions.
It was a fresh turkey never frozen, amazing bird!
