Last night was the first fire of the year. The previous owners of our house installed a woodstove in the fireplace in the living room. A woodstove has a fan under the actual stove and a hot box. It allows you to have a fire that is very hot, and to move the heat around the room. We added a tile floor that radiates the heat, storing it as the fire is hot and then slowly releasing it over the rest of the night. The transition from summer to fall has finally arrived in the DC area. Funny, but I love the cooler temperatures of fall. Walking outside in all seasons, it is nicest when it is cool all day.
The firewood was neatly stacked (after much complaining) by the firewood delivery service we have at the house.
The twins do not like being called the firewood delivery service, by the way!

Woodstove is so familiar with me. We have a similar one. Our stove is operated thru a charcoal.
Charcoal burns a lot hotter and a lot longer than wood. Nice!@
I love it, it reminds me of my childhood at my grandparents’ house.
Now I feel old 🙂 We love the woodstove, it heats the entire core of the house in the winter.
Oh, it’s something a lot of people still enjoy nowadays, we just don’t have it at home. 🙂

Ours is a gas stove with a blower that looks like a fireplace. I grew up with wood fireplaces and they do not keep your warm, but of course we didn’t have the kind with the blower back then.
The blower and the hot box (woodstove) are the heat producing and heat moving parts. It will heat the entire core of our house.
We have two and we use them often.
Our first of the year was last night. My wife and her dog love the fire.
