It is well known that there are no preventative measures for type 1 diabetes as the pancreas stops working and produces the insulin needed to control blood glucose. However, type 2 diabetes can be prevented through a lifestyle based on healthy eating and regular exercise.
1. Food first
– Eat at least three servings of vegetables every day;- For a snack, choose nuts, a piece of fruit or a sugar-free yogurt;- Avoid alcohol;- Choose bread, rice and wholemeal pasta;- Prefer white meat to red or processed meat;- Eat unsaturated fats (olive oil and sunflower oil) instead of saturated fats (coconut and palm oil, butter or animal fat).
2. Stay away from sugar – Sugar consumption is a major contributor to the increase in obesity and type 2 diabetes.
3. Don’t Forget The Exercise – These days there are no excuses for a sedentary life. There are many physical activities that do not require going to the gym and even sports applications, such as 7 Minute Workout or Workout Diary, that allow you to make a training plan as you like.
