The rose was considered as a symbol of beauty by Babylonians, Syrians, Egyptians, Romans and Greeks. In Egypt and Greece had a special relevance, and much more in Rome. The Romans cultivated the rose intensely, being used its petals for ornament, as well as the plant in the gardens in an area denominated Rosetum.
