In order to achieve what Alfa Romeo characterizes as “perfect weight distribution,” the Giulia employs a front-midship powertrain arrangement, similar to the Infiniti Q50. In the United States, a turbocharged, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine will make 276 horsepower, fed to the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is planned as an option. The base Giulia model gets a new Alfa Link suspension system. It employs an aluminum double-wishbone design up front, equipped with an exclusive semi-virtual steering axis that Alfa promises will supply “the most direct steering in the market segment. Additionally, the Giulia has an Integrated Brake System designed to reduce braking distances and provide a responsive pedal free of vibration from ABS engagement.
