Sugar Bush, or Sugar Sumac, is a large evergreen shrub of the chaparral habitat. It has a rounded appearance, often growing wider than tall.
Its flower clusters, which occur at the ends of the branches, consist of small pink and white flowers with five petals. The small sugar-coated red berry like fruit develop after pollination. The nectar of the Sugar Bush flowers provides important energy for many species of butterflies like the Red Admiral in the picture.
