During the early 1960s, Hendrix worked as a pickup guitarist, backing famous musicians such as B.B. King, Sam Cooke, and Little Richard. - Hendrix caught his big break in 1966 after the bassist for The Animals heard Hendrix playing in New York and brought him to London, where they created the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Their first single “Hey Joe” hit No. 6 in the UK. - Eric Clapton was born on March 30, 1945 in Surrey, England. Clapton grew up in a musical family, and for his 13th birthday, he asked for a guitar, which started his love affair with his instrument of choice. Similar to Hendrix, Clapton also drew inspiration from blues legends such as Robert Johnson, Alexis Korner, and Muddy Waters. - Clapton had a very successful career playing with bands such as The Yardbirds, Cream, and John Mayhall & the Bluesbreakers, and he also had a successful solo career. Clapton gained significant recognition from his first album with the Bluesbreakers for his guitar playing on songs such as “What’d I say” and “Ramblin’ on My Mind.” A post shared by History In Pictures (@historyphotographed) on May 1, 2019 at 12:02pm PDT MoreReport Item navigation Previous submission Next submission View full list Share Tweet Pin Written by Cmoneyspinner facebook instagram pinterest tumblr twitter youtube 2 Comments Leave a Reply I saw Eric Clapton a couple year ago and loved it. 1 Log in to Reply He’s gotten better with age.
