Falafel, Middle East (6/10)

The traditional Middle Eastern dish, falafel, is a deep-fried ball, doughnut or patty made from ground chickpeas, fava beans, or both. Its origins go as far as Ancient Egypt, Alexandria, from where it was distributed all around the world by the sailors. Falafel can be served solely, or in a pita sandwich with vegetables and seasoned with herbs.
